Cyberjaya

The most disappointing aspect of my stay in Malaysia has definitely been the location of the resort. Cyberjaya is a brand new city, filled with bland IT office parks and not much else. It really reminds me of Sunnyvale, where I went for webMethods training when I started working for Alticor. In order to get to the real culture of Malaysia I have to take a 45 minute taxi or train ride into the Kuala Lumpur, which is something I'm not keen to do during the week.

I took a stroll through the city a couple of days ago, but didn't find too much worth photographing. Here is the only building I saw with any personality. I think it's a food court for white collar types to walk to for lunch.

A high pressure petroleum pipeline cuts conspicuously through the city. I wonder how usual of a sight this is in other countries, because we certainly don't have these in Michigan.

Right across from some of the banal office buildings is a remainder of the palm plantation that must have covered most of this area. I wonder if it's yet to be developed or if it's being preserved (by law they must preserve 30% of all forests). I would have wandered around the trees, but the foliage on the ground is actually taller and thicker than it looks, and I was only wearing thong sandals.

I'll wrap it up with this, which is about the coolest overpass I've ever seen. Seriously, it's just an overpass.
