Putrajaya

Next to Cyberjaya is another city built from the ground up, named Putrajaya. Cyberjaya is a telecommunications hot-spot designed to attract IT companies. Putrajaya, on the other hand, was built for the government. It's quite reminiscent of DC, except of course the architecture is drastically different. The most beautiful building by far is the Putra Mosque. There is no electric air conditioning, but water is pumped up to the top of the building from the lake below it, and as it travels back down it cools the air.

The entrance to the mosque is an amazing arch that was rumored to be donated indirectly by Osama Bin Laden (according to the tour guide):

Next to the mosque is Perdana Putra, the main office of the prime minister.

On the other side of the mosque is a view of the Seri Wawasan Bridge. You can see how hazy it is all the time here.

One last photo, just because it is cool:

I'll get to our visit to Kuala Lumpur a little later.
