This Post is for Dad

They drive on the left side here in Malaysia, and so the steering wheels are on the right side of the car. This isn't too surprising, but it is hard to not occasionally freak out when you're riding in a taxi and you unconsciously notice that the driver is on the wrong side of the road.

The cars they drive here are different than what you'd see in the states.

Mostly they're smaller, though perhaps that's because people here are smaller. The most popular makes is Proton, Malaysia's leading auto manufacturer.

Of course there are a few BMW's, Volkswagen's, Volvo's, and the like. Here's a sportier Proton that is really cool:

I found this yesterday. It's the Ford "Fighter", which I hadn't seen before and isn't on the Ford website.

This is a Perodua, another Malaysian automaker.

Of course since the weather is so nice, many people ride mopeds. Some of them are rickety and small, while others are almost like crotch-rockets. The hotel staff park all of their scooters under this carport- it's kind of their social center as well.

Thanks for the photos. It appears that the small cars are the vehicles of choice. Ford Fighter? I wonder if it's a coming attraction.
Most of the cars could get there wheels from stale doughnuts.

I know, I think my subaru would be one of the biggest cars on the road.

You've never heard of the ford fighter? odd, you know all the gossip. I thought it was ugly, actually; only a touch better than the Baja.
