My sister's dog was crazy. He couldn't stand being cooped up in an apartment, and his rather wild instincts made him miserable. She decided to send him back to the breeder, who will take care of him and find him a more appropriate home; and in his place she adopted a 2 year old French Bulldog named Coal.

The consensus is enthusiastic: this is one awesome dog. He's friendly, and smart, and very well behaved. And he's pretty. In his own way.

He seems to be getting along well with my sister's other dog, Maverick (also a French Bulldog). Maverick is an oddball but also a really great canine specimen.

The big dogs (Raider and Ebony), which we lived with for a long time back in high school, are still around too, enjoying their old age.

We took a walk, on Saturday with my sister's two dogs and my parents' little whippersnappers.

Maverick decided to chew on a rock. I took a hilarious video but I can't figure out how to get youtube to accept it.

And, since this all took place on Caturday I couldn't resist posting this adorably smug photo of Orange Stray Cat:

Coal looks so cute here with his little pokey-out tongue. Man, I really look short in the picture from far away--I'm clearly shorter than Mom!
i think you look like kiera knightly in that photo. what do you think?
