My workspace, let me show you it

This is where I spend 8 hours a day:

Things to note:

  • Aeron Chair - most comfortable office chair I've ever sat in!

  • dual screens - the only way to work. I would have a legitimate use for three screens, actually.

  • Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones - very helpful for blocking out the world and getting into the coding zone.

  • 160gb iPod Classic - supplies much of the music I listen to during the day. I've taken fondly to Pandora, as well.

  • Tuna - I eat it for lunch most days. One can and five crackers are around 250 calories.

  • Soda bottles - soda is my lifeblood at work. I've recently diverted some of my caffeine intake to tea (not pictured).

  • Twitter sticker on cabinet - courtesy of @grbrit.

  • Natural keyboard and track-ball mouse, in tray - I had a bout of repetitive stress injury in my wrists last year, so I switched to using more ergonomic interfaces.

  • Guitar calendar - thanks mom and dad!

  • Japanese artwork - I love those prints! The one on the left is Hokusai; it was requested by Debussy to appear on the program for the premiere of La Mer, one of my favorite orchestral works. I like the one on the right better, actually, but I can't remember the artist. I will update this post on Monday with the name.

  • iPod Shuffle dock - I use the shuffle for exercising, and occasionally it needs to be charged. Having a dock at work lets me make sure it has enough juice to get me through four miles.

I commend your recent switch to tea from pop. I'll let you know when I've got some squirrel ready to eat and you can join in.

Hi, Jared. Here's an excellent essay on the Republican war on words: http://www.newyorker.com/reporting/2008/10/13/081013fa_fact_wood

Yeah, I love me some dual screens :D Similar setup to yours. My difference is that I pretty much always have a Thumbdrive plugged in for portableapp abilities :)
