If you weren't watching it live, I urge you to find online Barack Obama's nomination acceptance speech. It was eloquent, forceful, empathetic, and probably the most important speech a politician has made in recent history. In short, it was a masterful call to action.
If you've never been interested in politics before, now is an appropriate time to ask yourself why. If you've never felt like a politician actually believed what he or she said, now is the time to pay attention. If you vote solely out of your own interests, it is time to ask what it means to be an American. If you think that it's only rhetoric, it might be prudent to buckle in anyway.
Change is coming.
